GermanChunks

Privacy Policy

GermanChunks is a local-first German learning app. This page explains exactly what data the app uses and how.

What GermanChunks stores

GermanChunks stores all of your learning data — progress, review history, favorites, streak, and preferences — locally on your device. No account is required, and none of this data is transmitted to any server.

The app uses SwiftData for local persistence. All content (chunks, lessons, packs, examples, scenarios) is bundled with the app and never fetched from the network.

Advertising

GermanChunks uses Google AdMob to display ads to users on the free tier. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage signals for ad personalisation, subject to your consent via the App Tracking Transparency prompt shown on first launch.

If you decline tracking, you will still see ads but they will not be personalised. AdMob operates under Google's privacy policy.

No data collection by us

The app itself does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. There are no analytics SDKs, no crash reporters, and no user accounts.

App-to-widget data sharing

If you add the GermanChunks home screen widget, the app shares a small amount of anonymous usage data (current streak, due review count) with the widget via an on-device App Group container. This data never leaves your device.

Notifications

If you enable daily reminders, notifications are scheduled locally on your device using iOS notification APIs. No notification data is sent to any server.
